Internal Build-Up
The hermes-agent repository was created on July 22, 2025 (per GitHub metadata) and developed inside Nous Research for roughly eight months before the first public release tag. No public releases shipped during this window — the team focused on the core agent loop, skill system, and gateway.
Public Launch (v0.2.0 → v0.6.0)
Hermes Agent went public with v0.2.0 on March 12, 2026 and shipped five releases in eighteen days. v0.6.0 (March 30) landed 'Profiles' for running isolated agent instances, an MCP server mode, a Docker container, fallback provider chains, and Feishu/Lark plus WeCom messaging — 95 PRs resolved in two days, per the release notes.
The Cadence Era (v0.7.0 → v0.14.0)
v0.7.0 (April 3) brought pluggable memory and the Camofox browser; v0.8.0 (April 8) added MCP OAuth 2.1 and approval buttons. The cadence then accelerated: v0.9.0 (April 13) launched the Local Web Dashboard, /fast, and native Android/Termux; v0.10.0 (April 16) shipped the Nous Tool Gateway (Firecrawl, FLUX 2 Pro, OpenAI TTS, Browser Use). v0.11.0 (April 23) rewrote the TUI in Ink and added AWS Bedrock, GPT-5.5 via Codex OAuth, Claude Opus 4.7, and Kimi K2.6. v0.12.0 (April 30) introduced the Autonomous Curator plus Microsoft Teams, Tencent Yuanbao, Spotify, and Google Meet. v0.13.0 (May 7) — 'The Tenacity Release' — landed the durable multi-agent Kanban, persistent /goal, Google Chat (20th platform), and DeepSeek v4 Pro. v0.14.0 (May 16) topped it off with `pip install hermes-agent`, the OpenAI-compatible `hermes proxy`, Grok OAuth + 1M context, LINE and SimpleX (22 messaging platforms total), and a native Windows beta — all from the public GitHub release notes.
